SL and HL

How IB Biology is assessed
The weighting is the same at both levels: Paper 1 is 36% of the grade, Paper 2 is 44% and the internal assessment is 20%. HL has more content and longer papers.
Standard Level
Paper 1 (1A and 1B together): 1 hour 30 minutes, 55 marks. Paper 2: 1 hour 30 minutes, 50 marks.
Higher Level
Paper 1 (1A and 1B together): 2 hours, 75 marks. Paper 2: 2 hours 30 minutes, 80 marks.
Internal assessment
A scientific investigation written up in at most 3,000 words, marked on four criteria of 6 marks each, and the same at SL and HL.

Do you tutor IB Biology SL and HL?
Yes, both, on the IB Diploma Biology syllabus first examined in 2025 (themes A to D). HL students also get the HL-only content and the longer Paper 2 questions.
Can a tutor help with the IB Biology IA?
Yes, within the IB's rules on academic integrity. We help you choose a manageable research question, plan the method, process and present data, and understand what each criterion rewards. We do not write or edit the report for you.
Are lessons in person in Dubai or online?
Either. In-person lessons are at home or at a quiet study space in Dubai. Online lessons are one-to-one on video with a shared whiteboard, so students anywhere can join.
When should IB students start tutoring?
Early in DP1 is ideal, as the content builds on itself and the IA comes in DP2. Starting later still helps, especially for Paper 1B data questions and Paper 2 extended responses.
