One-to-one A-level Biology lessons with a qualified biology teacher, for the Edexcel International AS and A Level (XBI11 and YBI11). In person in Dubai or online from anywhere. We also help with other A-level Biology courses.
Edexcel International AS and A Level
International AS Biology (XBI11) is Units 1, 2 and 3. The full International A Level (YBI11) adds Units 4, 5 and 6. Lessons follow the 2018 specification and its command words.
Core practicals
The 18 core practicals are examined in written papers, Unit 3 and Unit 6. We practise planning, variables, uncertainties, graphs and evaluation until the questions feel routine.
Synoptic questions and the pre-release
Units 4, 5 and 6 can draw on more than one topic, and Unit 5 has a pre-released scientific article that underpins one 20-mark question. We prepare for both.

Six unit exams, three series a year
Edexcel International A Level Biology is modular: six written unit papers, with no coursework. Every unit can be sat in January, June or October, and any unit can be resat, so lessons are planned around the units and series on your entry.
International AS (Units 1 to 3)
Units 1 and 2: 1 hour 30 minutes, 80 marks each. Unit 3, Practical Skills in Biology I: 1 hour 20 minutes, 50 marks. The AS is graded A to E and is half of the full A Level.
International A Level (Units 4 to 6)
Units 4 and 5: 1 hour 45 minutes, 90 marks each, with synoptic questions. Unit 6, Practical Skills in Biology II: 1 hour 20 minutes, 50 marks. The A Level is graded A* to E.
Resits
Any unit can be resat. If a unit is sat more than once, the better of the two most recent attempts counts towards the grade.

Which A-level Biology courses do you tutor?
Edexcel International AS Level Biology (XBI11) and International A Level Biology (YBI11), all six units. We also help with other A-level Biology courses: choose Not sure on the form and tell us your course.
Are lessons in person in Dubai or online?
Either. In-person lessons are at home or at a quiet study space in Dubai. Online lessons are one-to-one on video with a shared whiteboard, so students anywhere can join.
Can you help with Unit 3 and Unit 6, the practical skills papers?
Yes. They are written papers based on the core practicals and on new practical situations: planning an investigation, controlling variables, processing data, plotting graphs and evaluating a method. Unit 6 also asks for a null hypothesis and for ethical issues when living organisms are used.
Can tutoring help with a unit resit?
Yes. Units are sat in January, June and October, so a resit can come soon after results. We look at where the marks were lost and plan lessons for the next series, alongside any units still to come.
